Courses offered by the professorship
Macroeconomics
Macroeconomics attempts (among other things) to describe macroeconomic development (empiricism), explain macroeconomic relationships (theory) and make suggestions for solving problems (policy). In particular, the course examines which factors can explain macroeconomic production over different time horizons (short, medium and long term). The course provides a (first) insight into macroeconomic theory and discusses current challenges in macroeconomics.

Money and Currency
The course provides an insight into monetary theory and monetary policy, the interrelationships between the money, credit and foreign exchange markets and the effects of monetary and currency policy decisions. The course discusses the institutional framework, objectives, strategy, instruments and transmission mechanisms of European monetary policy.

Introduction to Econometrics
The course provides an insight into the application of important econometric methods supported by the statistical software R. The methods and methods of econometrics will be discussed. The methods and their fundamentals as well as their practical implementation are discussed on the basis of concrete problems.

Proseminar Monetary Macroeconomics
The proseminar deals with changing topics from the field of (monetary) macroeconomics that are relevant both in the current specialist literature and in public discourse. The participants of the proseminar prepare a scientific term paper and present it in a block event.

Vertiefung Makroökonomik/Advanced Macroeconomics
The course addresses different concepts and research questions in macroeconomics discussing recent challenges of the macroeconomy (e.g. large increase in inflation) and extending closed-economy macro models by the role of expectations and international trade. Attention is devoted to both the theoretical underpinnings of the models and their policy implications for governments and central banks.

Internationale Wirtschaftsbeziehungen/International Economics
The course discusses different international trade models explaining trade patterns, gains from trade, and the role of trade for the income distribution within a country. In addition, the course also looks at the effect of different trade policy instruments, exchange rate determination, and the role of the exchange rate in open-economy macro models.
