Not to mention the travelling companion. But what caused the time jump? Will they manage to solve the mystery behind time?

18.12. Christmas wrapping paper and the 17 flat space groups of crystallography
As part of the lecture “Introduction to Crystallography” for the third semester of the bachelor's degree program “Geology/Mineralogy,” Prof. Gerhard Heide explains the symmetry elements of the 17 flat space groups in crystallography. To illustrate these complex concepts, he also analyzes the symmetry of Christmas wrapping paper.
Participants are invited to bring their own wrapping paper to examine its symmetry properties together.
However, the symmetry of completely filled two-dimensional space is not limited to specific architectural forms such as tiled floors, tiled walls, facades, and representative buildings such as churches and castles. It can also be found in everyday items such as wrapping paper. A remarkable example of the diversity of symmetry elements is the Alhambra in Granada, where all 17 theoretically possible combinations of symmetry elements can be found.
