Eike Tim Koopmann receives the Best Paper Award at the Fraunhofer Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference 2025
At the Fraunhofer Direct Digital Manufacturing Conference, which took place in Berlin on 12 and 13 March 2025, Eike Tim Koopmann, PhD student at the Chair of Additive Manufacturing at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, received the DDMC Best Paper Award for his scientific contribution.
The biennial conference provides a platform for international dialogue on all aspects of additive manufacturing - from industrial applications to its impact on the environment, society and sustainability. This year, 111 participants from 14 countries and three continents met in Berlin to discuss the latest developments and research findings in 53 specialist presentations, 6 keynotes and 6 poster contributions.
The award for the contribution entitled "Development of Heating Strategies to Reduce Crack Formation in the Manufacturing Process of Tool Components Using Directed Energy Deposition" was presented by Ligeia Paletti, member of the DDMC Scientific Committee, and conference chair Dr Bernhard Müller. The paper highlights innovative approaches to optimising process control in the directed energy deposition process, with the aim of minimising crack formation in the production of tool components.
