Additive Fertigung

Study concept

The key technology of additive manufacturing combines numerous innovative processes that make it possible to manufacture complex, sophisticatedly designed products directly on the basis of computer data. Often referred to as "3D printing", these technologies work layer by layer and require neither moulds nor specific tools. They are very resource-efficient because they only use material where it is needed in the end product. In particular, they offer more freedom for product design, making completely new designs and constructions possible. In addition to technical applications, they are therefore also very popular in the fields of art, design and architecture.

The degree programme combines all aspects of additive manufacturing. Our students learn about the various additive manufacturing processes in detail, their selection and technology depending on the material, component size and product requirements. The degree programme offers a wide range of career opportunities along the entire development chain, from raw materials and product design to the manufacturing process or overarching tasks.

The Master's degree programme builds seamlessly on the scientific, mathematical and technical foundations taught on the Bachelor's degree programme. There is further scientific specialisation so that graduates can adapt the additive manufacturing process chain in its entirety to the latest scientific findings and develop it independently. During their studies, our students benefit from the modern equipment in our laboratories and facilities as well as from the individual support provided by lecturers and professors.

Please note that this is a German-language degree program. At TUBAF we offer a variety of English Master's degree programs. Click here for an overview.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

All Bachelor's and Diploma degree programs at TUBAF are admission-free, i.e. there is no NC. The only decisive factor is your university entrance qualification (e.g. Abitur). The Master's degree programs also have no admission restrictions - however, we recommend that you take a look at the respective admission requirements for the degree program. These can be found in the requirements section and in the study documents.

The standard period of study is three semesters. The Master's degree course in Additive Manufacturing requires 90 credit points.

The course can be started in the summer or winter semester.

The International Office can help you with questions about your studies - such as application or enrollment. TUBAF offers a Buddy-Program for first semester students moving to Freiberg from abroad.

The Central Student Advisory Service and the subject advisory service of the respective faculty (see info box at the top of the website) can help with questions about specific courses.
