No tuition fees are charged for studying at TUBAF. For this reason, only a limited number of scholarships are available. The main part of the scholarships is provided by sponsors such as the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Saxon State Ministry for Science and Art, the Association of Friends and Sponsors of TUBAF as well as by some companies. These funds are administered by the International Office.
The Study Completion Grant is a scholarship for international students in the final phase of their studies.
The requirements for receiving it are good study performance, graduation within nine months and financial need.
This scholarship can only be awarded once. A selection committee (IUZ Advisory Board) decides on its award. There is no legal claim to the granting of the graduation grant.
As a rule, the funding amount is 300 euros per month and the Study Completion Grant is paid for up to three months.
- Full-time study or doctorate (no German course participant, no exchange student)
- Good to very good academic performance
- Completion of studies or doctorate within 9 months at the latest (after submission of the application)
- The applicant must stay in Germany during the funding period; funding for stays abroad is not possible
- Financial need through no fault of their own
The application period for a study completion grant for a planned graduation by 31 October is: 01 January – 15 February.
The application period for a study completion grant for a planned graduation by 30 April of the following year is: 01 July – 15 August.

- Enrolment certificate (latest available), showing all semesters
- Transcript of Records (showing all results including failed subjects and grades, ECTS version printed from online service)
- Form "Current and past financing your studies"
- Time schedule for the completion of your final thesis and for the completion of your (doctoral) studies, respectively; agreed upon and signed by your supervisor
- Letter of recommendation from a faculty member at TUBAF (see explanations below)

Provisions
- Financial support such as scholarships (e.g. Deutschlandstipendium), Erasmus grants, Agricola grants, BAföG, and salary will be taken into consideration.
- An advisory selection committee (the so called IUZ-Beirat) makes the decision regarding the distribution of funding. Applicants are neither entitled to nor guaranteed the receipt of a grant.
- The grant can be awarded to an individual only once.
Explanations on the letter of recommendation
- The letter of recommendation must be written by a professor or junior professor. Only in justified exceptional cases may it be written by a research assistant holding a doctorate. A reason must be given, why the letter of recommendation has not been issued by a professor.
- For the letter of recommendation, the student must present his or her current transcript of records to the professor. The author of the letter of recommendation must confirm that the transcript of records has been submitted.
- The letter of recommendation should be sent to the International Office by the professor himself, but may also be submitted by the applicant/student with the application documents.
- Exceptions: Students of the following Master's programmes do not have to submit a letter of recommendation. Instead, the International Office will contact the programme coordinators directly:

Students who have already started their Master thesis project need to submit a letter of recommendation by the Master Thesis' supervisor.
