What is there to see?
The TU Bergakademie Freiberg's teaching and research mine is neither a mining museum nor a visitor mine in the conventional sense. Nevertheless, there is plenty to discover for those interested in a wide range of specialisms. A system of tunnels spanning several levels and covering four centuries of Freiberg's mining history, uniquely preserved and fully functional technical facilities above and below ground are just some of the attractions. As the mine is used for teaching and research, there is more to marvel at than just the history. A large number of display boards, which have been installed on site for training purposes, give an impression of modern mining and its problems.
