Shibboleth is an application system for authentication and authorisation of various applications such as the e-learning service Opal or the web mail application 'Horde'. If you want to use a web application protected with Shibboleth, you will be temporarily redirected to us (the so-called Identity Provider, IdP) by the operator of this application (the so-called Service Provider, SP).

On a login service located at TU Bergakademie Freiberg, you log in with your central login data, i.e. your login data remains physically on ³Ô¹ÏÍø servers and is not transmitted to the service provider. You will then be automatically redirected to the service provider's Shibboleth-protected application. Based on the login data, the service provider can now decide whether to grant you access to the requested web application.
